“Phenomenal weekend getaway. Terrific for teenagers as they each have their own separate chalets with a balcony and view to die for! The home felt incredibly safe with added screens over the doors leading to bedrooms and invisible bars over windows. Such peace of mind having our car under a carport as we made use of the private game drive vehicle which was undeniably a hit, we saw elephants on three occasions, rhinos , many warthog , dung beetles , meerkat , wildebeest, ostrich and more ... We drove to Kalahari oasis, (rustic and different) we swam and had sundowners. Staff from main gate throughout the game park are so friendly, don’t see this level of enthusiasm often! Reception area had free putt putt and table tennis so we never felt any level of boredom. All round wow!”

“Such a beautiful getaway Lodge, located just a drivable distance from Bela Bela town. This place is so beautiful pictures don’t even do it justice. As the name dictates, you will see a dozen warthogs day in day out. The place is perfect for a small family or for couples, as there is a main bedroom in the main house then two chalets outside with all the privacy you’ll need. There’s wifi, ice makers, bar fridges in the chalet, there’s an outdoor shower which you will definitely enjoy. Our stay there was amazing and will definitely be going back there. We spotted a few animals, but the climax of our stay has to be having been woken up by elephants grazing just metres away from our chalet. Oh yeah, there’s also a game drive vehicle which you can utilize at an additional cost. Don’t think about it twice, JUST GO THERE!!”

We rented the game drive vehicles for two days which worked perfectly – we spotted rhino, elephant, buffalo and lots more. We loved that animals roamed around the house for most of the day and that game drives were just an added extra that we could indulge in. There are lots of small game (this is not big five country - we did see elephant and buffalo on our game drives) which in itself is lovely and a different experience. The house is very well equipped, and spotless. We really enjoyed the space the whole set-up afforded our group - it was really the best spot to celebrate a mile stone birthday. “On TOP of the World. The pictures of this magnificent home do not do it justice. High atop a mountain at the magnificent Mabalingwe Reserve, we had the best of everything. The home and amenities were high-end. We greatly enjoyed the pool overlooking the valley and the sunsets from the boma were stunning. Outdoor showers were really cool, but the baths inside were quite luxurious as well. Very well appointed kitchen and 24/7 security was a bonus. SUPER place. We will defintely be back! “The lodge was incredible! We knew from the time we walked in we were set for a fantastic weekend ahead. Breathtaking views of the reserve stretch far out beyond the hills. The swimming pool is great fun and perfect in its setting - especially in the heat! Sunsets are magnificent from the patio. They house is fully kitted out with every essential one needs when on holiday. The game vehicle was a bonus! We were thrilled to use it, especially since we were a big group. The dishwasher worked like a gem and really made for easy living. Kitchen and open plan lounge really work nicely for a big group like us. Lounge was comfortable and we had access to the rugby game!! The rooms and bathrooms are clean and guest friendly, plenty of space and comfort for sharing too. Outdoor showers outside each room were fantastic! We had a magical experience here and the lodge in its perfect location, with all its bells and whistles, made our stay a very happy one.”

We had two infants with us who could not wake each other because two of the rooms are separate from the main house. The ice maker was surprisingly convenient. Everything we needed in the kitchen was supplied. It was fun watching game and driving to the oasis bar, only open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (Check before you go). We also had an entertaining time with elephants close to the neighbouring zebula lodge (30 minutes drive). Thanks!”

“My leave started on the 26th June where we started our trip from Cape Town to JHB, Mpumalanga, Polokwane, Gauteng. We travelled 2000km’s (except for the flight km’s from CT to JHB).

I must say when we entered Mabalingwe / Warthog Lodge we were stunned by the beautiful game reserve, the friendly people both at the front entrance gate right up to reception.

Our stay at Warthog Lodge was just AMAZING. I actually don’t have other words to explain:

The environment is absolutely beautiful.
The house is in excellent condition.
The surroundings were awesome.

And not to speak about our visits from the Warthog’s (a lot I might add, but they gave us extreme pleasures).
There was some buck as well drinking water from the waterhole, so yes we enjoyed the lodge very much.

And YES a definite big huge YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to visit again in near future!

“Really liked staying at Warthog Lodge. Well laid-out house with pool and braai boma. The sunset view over the bushveld is one of the best I have seen. House is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances, even a dishwasher. Bedrooms are well laid-out. Each having a full bathroom and outside shower. Was surprised to find three bedrooms (two outside in separate units and one within the main complex). We had Warthogs visiting frequently during the day around the house, but they can get a bit too close when having small children around. But keeping the kids out of harms way was no problem. All and all a great weekend and will definitely consider returning in the future.”

“I had the privilege during December to take my family to your house in Mabalingwe (732).
First of all, I would like to thank you for the opportunity.
The time we spent there was not just memorable but one of the best we as a family had ever enjoyed.

Our journey started off on the first evening with the Warthogs and Bush pigs that entertained us around the boma. The second evening was definitely the highlight as we were treated to a show of majestic awe, with ten elephants spending time around the house for more than 3 hours. Every single game drive was a successful one, although we had to work hard to track and find the some animals it was a journey and a story can be told for every trip. I wish I could share each and every story with you, however, the kids tell them with so much more detail and animation that my versions will do unjustly to the experience. I must say they have not stopped telling them over and over since we got back. “Lilly” your Land Rover as named by my youngest daughter provided so much fun, she was seen as a member of the family by the end of the trip and it was a sad goodbye when we left.

In total 33 species of animals and 92 bird species were spotted, which I think is a very successful trip.
Your assistance with the maps and information provided was a huge attribute and got the kids involved from day one.

Linda and I have fallen in love with this place and we will definitely visit no 732 again.

Words will never describe what this special house did to our family. For that, I will always be grateful.
